Orientation to Your Home

You are responsible for introducing your home to your New Guest. I strongly recommend that you introduce the Guest to all members of the household as soon as possible.

Be aware that certain things that we take for granted could be very unfamiliar to an International Guest. It is important to ensure that your Guest knows how to use all the house facilities. Be patient with them and show them what to do by giving them an orientation to your home.

Explain your family daily routines, schedules, and expectations. Remember that the guests/student’s assumptions may be quite different from yours – he/she may have no idea why something is important to you.

It is totally up to you what can be used and what your Guest cannot use in your home. Please use good judgment and check to make sure that they have completely understood your directions.

You may wish to repeat the orientation again in a week or two and clarify any new questions that have come up.
